All the World’s A Stage
Mixed reality blends digital content with real world environments and objects. As a storytelling medium mixed reality is in its infancy. Just like early motion picture directors looked to theater and opera for inspiration, mixed reality pioneers are borrowing from the conventions of TV and interactive gaming. As mixed reality evolves it will require its own language of storytelling. The role of the audience will likely change from passive reflection to active engagement. Audiences will view themselves as co-creators of the story—demanding greater control over characters and plots. This shift in the role of the audience is likely to have an impact that goes well beyond pure mixed reality experiences.
